It's funny, you go play SF4 arcade and the roster is less than half of what's in Super now. The only thing I'm worried about is that by adding so much, it's impossible that it'll be as fine tuned as it needs to be. It's hard for the game to be balanced with such a large, completely new cast. I have read that they've nerfed Sagat and Ryu somewhat, but I don't know the details. So long as the discrepancy between the top and bottom tier isn't as pronounced as in vanilla SF4 I'll be happy. Super Turbo is still the benchmark for balance, IMO.

Have you heard about them making you pick Ultras before a match, like Special Arts in SF3? That's kind of cool. I liked that in 3s, added another layer of forethought.

Yes,this will keep the Top Tier from even more abusing(As if they need it....Damn Sagat,-TigerUppercut>>FADC>>>Forward HK.Kick>>>>Tiger Destruction!....Bullshit! ) Imagine having 2 options(While you're falling,he's thinking:"Oh,shall I go Tiger Destruction his ass or Blow him away with my new and shiny Tiger Cannon...Even more shenanigans!

I've read they are trying to balance it as best as they can,but I feel characters like Fei and Cammy are still gonna have a lot of trouble. And I love Fei in this game. But with many options available now,it's gonna be a doozy picking a new main.(or even a sub...)

Haha, as a Guile player you don't have to tell me about low-tier. ;)

I started using Sagat because at $1 a pop, I was tired of getting knocked off the arcade machine. And it was amazing, going in totally cold, it was so much easier to win with him as compared to a character I've been using since I was seven.

The FADC jugle/Ultra is bullshit, but I was never able to get the timing down myself. Yeah, I tried it! So what? :P

I haven't played SF4 online in a while, but it was all Ryu/Sagat, all the time. Unless it was a shitty Ken player.

Damn straight. I looked at my rep on XBOX Live the other day, and it's 40% positive or no comment, 60% negative. The majority of that was for "unsporting." Now, I don't play with a headset, so there's no trash talk, and I don't send nasty comments. And on top of that, I only play ranked matches where presumably everyone is trying to win. So really what it boils down to is if you don't like getting german suplexed by Guile, stop letting me walk up to you in the corner. Throwing never was cheap.

Ibuki was my favorite of the 3s characters. I always liked Guy, but never really got any good with him. In SF4 I played Sagat, Ryu, Guile and M. Bison. I'm probably most excited for Adon and Dee Jay, though. Dee Jay might be a version of Guile that doesn't suck, and I've just always liked Adon. He's like the anti Sagat with Terry's Crackshoot.

Picked up TvC and a PS2->GCN converter today. The converter needs analog support to function so I'll have to bring it back cause my stick is just a digital PS1 pad.

As for the game itself, I don't like it at all. I see how it reminded you of the first CvS game, though, asthetically the menus and pre fight stuff all have that vibe. I don't know, I haven't spent much time with it but my initial impressions really turned me off. It feels like it's set on Easy mode, maybe because of the control scheme. It feels like you can execute any move with any button, and comboing is a little mashy as well. I don't care for 90% of the cast, what I've heard of the soundtrack is almost as grating as MvC2, and as a matter of preference I'm pretty sick of the VS craziness anyway.

I'm pretty bummed that I ended up buying it, actually. I'm sure it's better than I'm giving it credit for, but it doesn't make me care enough to find out.

Oh,wow.Sorry to hear about it.I think you should at least give it a really good playthrough with few characters.I've been hearing good things about it....I imagined it would feel like that:mish-mash.The combos I've seen pulled on the game are quite ridiculous.

By the way, love your avatar.....That is what I wanted to do in the first place, really.

I'm sure the game has more depth than is apparent on my first couple plays through the game, but like I said, there are so many things that grate on me with the game as a whole that I don't think I'll give it enough time to really sink in.

Who knows, maybe I'll warm up to it if I stick with it. And truth be told, maybe I'm just not in the mood for this type of fighter right now. I dl'd MvC2 recently and it didn't really grasp a hold of me either.

I got the gif from here:

Stumbled across a gallery of 181 Strider Hiryu pictures. Many of them would be suitable avatar material. Just copy the picture over to your own account if you have one incase the guy who compiled that pulls it down in the future. 8-)

I know I'm pretty late to the party here, but holy shit was that SF3 character trailer incredible! Reusing the announcer from 3rd Strike in the beginning of the trailer was a great touch (one of my favorite announcers in a fighting game), but as soon as I heard the awesome newly arranged version of Dudley's theme from 3rd Strike, I was in my glory. Dudley is BACK, bitches! His whole design, personality, demeanor, and the way he spouted lines like "You have no dignity!" and "Gutter Trash!" through his then-British tongue (I already miss his original voice after seeing the trailer) made him an instant classic amongst SF3's cast in my eyes. I was so happy to see him back in action, and what better way to bring him back than to show him beating the living shit out of Balrog? Lord knows that Tyson-wannabe's had it coming to him, and I've waited years for Dudley to show that bastard some class.

Ibuki's also a great addition (I've always liked her), but I could have done without Makoto. Her fighting style is good I suppose (nothing very flashy, but makes up for in raw power), but I've always found her character design to be so plain-looking. It's like they took Ryu, turned him into a female, and shrunk everything except the oversized hands and feet, which are now capable of competing against Chun-Li's monstrous thighs. Shoulda' just given us Alex, IMO.

Having just watched the Hakan reveal trailer a few minutes ago, he's easily one of the most creative characters to ever come out of SF in terms of fighting style. That said, I'm still a little grossed out after watching that trailer.

BTW, Paul, I love the avatar! That was always a fucking wicked win pose! :)

 That reminds me of the old EGM April Fool's joke that said you could unlock Akuma in Resident Evil 2 if you beat both scenarios 6 times, used only the handgun and knife, and got an A rank each time.

Awesome April Fools Trailer for the new version of Virtua Fighter 5 coming out. At least they're finally admitting that most of their characters are stereotypes taken from Street Fighter II. ;)

The part about Sega releasing a new version of VF5 is definitely true, though. I guess it's a good thing we held off on getting the 360 version for such a long time, huh Jason?

Super Street Fighter IV - Opening Cinematic

A helluva lot more epic than the "Indestructible" opening ever was. I've loved the new art style since I first watched the original SF IV teaser trailer, and they really went all-out with it this time. The animation is simply incredible, what with all the calligraphic strokes, ink smudges and sprays accented all throughout the visuals. I also love how they integrated some of our favorite classic character-specific themes into the background music (Go Cammy!).

BTW, guys, look closely at that gang of thugs Cody is about to face. Don't they look familiar? ;)

All but official, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 in the works?

I personally don't like how it's being implied that the character roster far exceeds MvC2's. If another sequel were to come out, I would have hoped that Capcom would trim off a lot of the excess fat MvC2 had. The game was ridiculously bloated with X-Men and Street Fighter characters, and to top it all off, all they really did to expand the roster was bring back all the characters we had already seen in X-Men: Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes instead of adding some truly memorable new characters to the mix (the Marvel side was especially gimped here). Thor, Jubilee and Arthur were special helpers in MvC1, yet they couldn't be bothered to rework them into full-fledged characters when their basic spritework was already there? They brought back Thanos, Blackheart, Shuma Gorath and Doctor Doom, but wouldn't even go so far as to include the Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider, Doctor Strange or at least one of the Fantastic Four to complement said villains?

While I definitely had my fun with MvC2 when it first came out, I've always felt that it was more of a family reunion of sorts than a true fighting game sequel that's supposed to celebrate characters old and new. Should MvC3 ever come out, I really hope that the roster is not only balanced (please, for the love of God, balance these damn characters!), but varied. Marvel and Capcom both have an entire museum's worth of awesome characters to use at their disposal, yet we get stuck with a palette swap of Wolverine with bone claws and a sombrero-wearing cactus? The hell, Capcom?

That all said, what new characters would you guys like to see join the fray?

Marvel
Carnage
Deadpool
Thor
Jubilee
Mister Sinister
Ghost Rider
The Thing
Human Torch
Punisher
Blade
Daredevil
Hawkeye
Silver Surfer
Moon Knight

Capcom
Chris, Leon, Wesker or Nemesis (Resident Evil)
Regina (Dino Crisis)
Dante (Devil May Cry)
Arthur (Ghosts 'n Goblins)
Proto Man (Mega Man)
Zero (Mega Man X)
Falcon (Power Stone)
Dan Smith (Killer 7)
Viewtiful Joe (Duh)
Amaterasu (Okami)
Sieg (Chaos Legion)
Samanosuke (Onimusha)
Dimitri or Jedah (Darkstalkers)
Rad Spencer (Bionic Commando)

EDIT: Also, what changes would you like to see in the gameplay? I for one hope they ditch the 3-on-3 matches, or at least not make them the only mode of play--I felt they often dragged on for far too long, which made playing through arcade mode in its entirety a woeful experience. I would much prefer the return of 2-on-2 matches (not to mention online-enabled Cross Fever Mode!), as well as an option to play 1-on-1 matches (playing so much Street Fighter IV last year helped me remember why I used to appreciate the pacing of more traditional fighters).
